European Solidarity Corps, The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) offers great opportunities for volunteers. In this article, we will tell you how to get involved in the European Solidarity Corps – What is ESC?

So what is the ESC?

European Solidarity Corps is a European Union initiative that launched as part of the EU’s efforts to promote solidarity, enhance civic engagement, support social inclusion, encourage intercultural exchange, provide learning and development opportunities, address societal challenges, encourage lifelong engagement, create positive change and create a sense of European identity among young people.

ESC is the EU Youth Programme is a programme within the scope of Erasmus+ that enables young people to engage in volunteer work, internship, and employment in projects that benefit communities and contribute to societal development in non-governmental organizations in EU countries. Expenses are covered by EU youth funds.

Who can participate?

While the age limit for participation in the EVS programme was 17-30 years old, this age limit was updated to 18-30 years old with the ESC programme. In other words, you must be 18 years old on the day you go to the project and you must not be 31 years old.

How long does an ESC activity last?

ESC activities typically last between 2 and 12 months. The duration of ESC activities depends on the type of activity, the needs of the hosting organization, and the specific project. Furthermore, the European Solidarity Corps allows young people to volunteer for more than one project, however, the duration of projects lasts no longer than 14 months.

Where can I volunteer with ESC?

The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) has indeed expanded the opportunities for volunteering compared to the previous European Voluntary Service (EVS). While EVS was primarily focused on international volunteering, the ESC allows for both international and domestic volunteering within the participating countries.

Which costs are covered in ESC?

In ESC projects these costs are covered for volunteers at a fixed rate for each country;
•Basics costs (accommodation, food, local transportation)
•Insurance
•Operating costs
•Visa costs
•Pocket money
•Specific needs (e.g. a disability)

Life experiences: Life experiences: ESC projects offer unforgettable moments and unique life experiences to young people. Likewise, you can laugh a lot, have fun, and live your own experiences by participating in these projects.
